10 litre water bottle leaks in the back of the car..
Setbacks #1-4 include not having correct gas bottle attachment for gas stove (did not check before leaving), not getting car roadworthy check prior to setting off from farm (worked out OK with Lisa's contact in Robinvale), not setting up blog site before journey starting (have higgledy piggledy notes all over the place, not in correct time or location order, and think photo may have me mid-chew but can't tell as have to use teeny iPhone to post..) and lastly thinking Matt and I could comfortably share a single doona cover as a sleepsheet inside two sleeping bags that don't zip together...
This list of setbacks are just the first that come to mind - definitely not complete.
Two things learned thus far. #1 be well prepared by trying out things before going on big trip. #2 It looks like I focus too much on the negatives..
Ahh the joys of multi-day camping! At least it was water, not fuel that leaked, roadworthy certificates are just a state of mind, and, well, the car probably needed to be repacked anyway.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, op shops are great for those things that you need to get.
Enjoy the adventure,
Damon
Thanks for the positive spin on these minor setbacks, Damon. I am starting to see the joy in multi-day camping too. Matt and I have a deal now where our minimum tent site stay is 2 nights. And I love that Roadworthies are just a state of mind. I'm going to apply this attitude to as much of this trip as I can!
